Matthew 7

Are you the type of person who loves conflict or do you avoid conflict? Do you think conflict is healthy or horrible? What role can conflict play in healthy organizations? Why or why not?

Verse 1-6: What does Jesus mean when he says, “judge not, that you be judged?” What is a Christians’ response and responsibility when they see issues that need to be addressed?

How do you know if you are having healthy spiritual growth? What mechanisms do you have in place to get feedback for personal improvement?

Verse 7-11: What are some of the biggest things you’ve ever prayed for? How did God answer those prayers?

God clearly does not answer all prayers with a yes. How then are we to interpret “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”?

Verse 15-20: When you first got married, were you surprised by how your spouse was compared to how she was when you were dating? Was your spouse surprised by the difference between you before and after you got married? Why did things change?

What are some “fruits” that would indicate whether or not a person is a true Christian? What are some false fruits or warning signs that a person might be portraying themselves to be Christian but are not really?

Verse 21-23: How can there be a case where people would call upon the name of the Lord and do works in Jesus’ name yet not be a part of the kingdom of God? What kind of relationship does God have with his followers? What kind of relationship does the world want to have with God?

Verse 24-27: What is the worst thing you’ve ever built?

Have you ever lost hope in a situation? What was the situation? In what way can God provide stability in a disastrous situation?
