1 John 5

Verse 1-5: What is the most memorable win you’ve ever had? What made it memorable?

What does it mean to believe that Jesus is the Christ? What do you have to believe to be born of God?

Can you believe in Jesus and not follow his commandments?

How is it that we can overcome the world? What were we losing to the world in the first place? If we have overcome the world, why do Christians still feel like they’re losing?

Verse 6-12: Why do you think non-Christians believe in a deity? What is it that religion does for people?

What makes Christianity different from any other religion? Why should someone believe in Christianity over any other religion? Should Christianity get my special place in society?

What is eternal life? Why do we need the Son for eternal life? Why can’t we just believe in God? How much off t gospel do you have to believe to be saved? How much can you believe outside the core of the gospel and still be saved?

Verse 13-15: If God already knows what we will ask for, why do we pray? Why doesn’t God always answer our prayers? Is God not hearing me or does he not care?

Verse 16-17: Is there a sin so bad we can’t be saved? What if we are unrepentant? What is a believer’s relationship with their sin?

Verse 18: If I keep on sinning the same sin over and over, am I really not saved? What does God protect me from?

Verse 19-21: If the whole world lies in the power of the evil one, what should Christians do? Should we hide? Do we fight? How can our families and community thrive when we’re surrounded by evil?
