What are aspects of the Christian faith that we can take for granted? In what ways are we prone to wander in our faith journey?
Verse 3-5: What was the angriest you’ve ever been with your child? As they got older (and you matured), did your attitude change when your child made bad decisions? Why or why not?
How do you think God feels about sin in the world? Is he angry, disappointed, accepting?
How do you think God feels when Christians sin?
Verse 6-7: What areas of your life would your spouse or kids say you are the most stubborn? Is that a strength or weakness?
Why do you think we harden our hearts to certain situations or other people? Are there areas where your heart needs to be softened toward other people or their situations?
Verse 8-10: What does it mean to enter God’s rest? How do we appropriately rest in the lord?
Verse 11-13: What are the most memorable/important lessons your parents taught you?
How can/does the gospel shape how we interpret our world, live our lives, approach other people, etc.? Does the gospel still have an impact on your life? Why or why not?
Verse 14-16: In what areas are you least willing to be patient with other people? What kind of people do you have a soft spot for? Why is that?
Have you ever had a troubling event in your life that was hard to share with others because you just thought no one else would understand? Do you have any things that are hard to find forgiveness from God or others about because you feel that you just can’t bring it up without feeling shame? How do we approach God with confidence?
