Questions from Shaun E. for Chapter 4:
- What was something you had to wait until you were older to do or get?
- What is something you inherited from your family that you don’t like (something you say, something you do)?
- Galatians 4:1-3: Did your parents have any rules that they set up that you didn’t understand? Do you think that your parents didn’t explain them well or did you just not understand?
- Galatians 4:4-5: Why is it important that Jesus is born of a woman and born under the Law?
- Galatians 4:6-7: What do you think it means to be an heir of God? What exactly are we inheriting?
- Galatians 4:8-11: Why is life outside of God considered slavery? What are we slaves to?
- Galatians 4:12-15: Paul clearly spent time going to the Galatians on their terms, opening himself up to the issues that were afflicting him in his life. This endeared him to the Galatians. Is there a lesson in leadership/evangelism that we can learn here? How should we present ourselves to make the gospel attractive?
- Galatians 4:16-17: Bullies are often the popular kids in school. Why are we attracted to people who are exclusive? How should Christians act?
- Galatians 4:18-20: Have you ever been frustrated with your children about their behavior? How does it make you feel when the people you love most lead lives apart from what you would want for them? Does this feeling extend to people in your church circles?
- Galatians 4:21-25: Paul compares the Judaizers to the sons of Hagar. Why does he make this comparison? What’s his point?
- Galatians 4:26-31: How do we prevent becoming slaves to the flesh/law? What can we practically do to live by the Spirit?
- Is there ever a difference between what we expect to inherit from God and what we actually inherit from God? How do we remain thankful children and not ungrateful ones?
