What’s the significance of the transfiguration?
Why do you think encounters with God physically are so terrifying in the Bible? What characteristics of God would be frightening?
Matthew 17:10 is in reference to Malachi 4:5-6, which says,
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”
A key indication that a nation is in trouble is that there’s enmity between fathers and their children. Why do you think that is? What is harmful about the separation between fathers and children? How does this happen? Do you think this is an issue in America today? How can Christ heal issues within the family?
Verse 15-20: Do you think demons are still responsible for mental health issues today? Is mental health a problem that can be solved with prayer? How should a church deal with mental health issues?
Why do you think the disciples could not heal the boy? Do you think we could heal with enough faith? Why or why not?
How would you describe a faith that can move mountains? Do you think mountains move all at once or do think mountains move one rock at a time? Is this kind of faith achievable?

What would it take for Peter to be able to get two drachmas from a fish as Jesus commanded? Did Jesus predict it would happen or did he cause it to happen?
