Corinthians 2

Corinthians 2

The school of life: wisdom

If you had to give a single piece of advice to a high school grad, what would it be?

-2: Have you ever had to hold your tongue in a situation where you knew what to do but the others didn’t? Why did you do that? What’s Paul’s point in verses 1 and 2? Why does he start out by stating the facts?

-5: Reference Acts 18. What was Paul afraid of? Did the Jews care about the wisdom of God or man?

Wisdom is for the mature. Why? How do we prepare ourselves to receive wisdom?

What is the secret wisdom? See the next verses. Why does God keep things hidden? Why didn’t he tell us plainly what his plans were? Read John 10:24.

Why do you think the Spirit is so important? Can’t we rationalize who God is from His creation?

-12: the Spirit does something for us, it reveals God’s thoughts. It’s the Spirit that gives understanding. Is this why Paul didn’t try to speak words of wisdom to the Corinthians? They wouldn’t know wisdom until they knew God?

How do we help people live wisely is they don’t have the spirit?

what is it about God’s wisdom that is folly? Natural wisdom is self-serving. God’s wisdom serves others.

why does Paul say the spiritual person is to be judged by no one? Is he saying we aren’t to judge spiritual people? Or is he saying natural people can’t make right judgments about spiritual people because they do not understand God?

We are to have the mind of Christ. When we do, we will have wisdom. Is a good test of a Christian testing their wisdom and how Christlike they are in their thinking?
